Background information

In the period from july to december 2021 I have made a new work of art, consisting of textile materials. The working theme is nature that surrounds us. For this work I used photographic images that I printed on fabric, fabric remnants of beautiful fabrics and embroidery, partly donated from interested participants. These different parts have been ‘interwoven’ with each other in an abstract way by means of the collage technique.

Das Wandbild ist Fertig

Nach ein paar Monaten des Sammelns von Materialien, des Experimentierens, des Bestimmens von Farben, des Entwerfens, des Auswählens von Stoffen, der Bestellung von Testdrucken, des Ausprobierens von Stricktechniken und so weiter ist das Endergebnis da!

Die Grundidee war, eine Arbeit mit Input von verschiedenen Menschen zu schaffen, die etwas Positives zu einem von mir gemachten Gesamtbild beitragen wollten, entweder in Form von Stoffen, selbstgemachten Fotos, Stricken, Strickgarn. Das Hauptthema ist die Natur.

Ich habe mein Design auf intuitive Weise erstellt und es basiert auf verschiedenen Techniken aus der Textilgeschichte. Was schließlich herauskam, ist eine Hommage an Mutter Natur!

Einheimische Pflanzenarten

Hier ist ein kleiner Vorgeschmack darauf, wie das endgültige Design aussehen wird. Ich habe mich entschieden, mit einer begrenzten Farbpalette zu arbeiten, um sicherzustellen, dass das Endergebnis wie ein Ganzes aussieht.

Im Mittelpunkt des Designs steht eine Stickerei mit verschiedenen einheimischen Pflanzenarten meiner Grossmutter und bildet auch die Grundlage meiner Farbwahl.

Jedes eingereichte Foto und jedes eingesandte Stoffstück bekommt seinen Platz im Ganzen, aber vielleicht anders als du es erwarten wuerdest!

Farben bestimmen

Welche Farben passen gut zusammen und welche Kombination ist harmonisch, aber gleichzeitig nicht langweilig und standardmäßig? Entscheide ich mich für eine Ton-sur-Ton Variante oder eher für Komplementärfarben?

Welche Grundstimmung sollte die Arbeit ausdrucken?

Welcher Eindruck vermitteln die eingerichten Bilder und Stoffe? Was möchte ich selbst hinzufügen?

Ich bin immer noch voll beschäftigt mit meinem Projekt und im Moment gibt es mehr Fragen als Antworten…genau wie ein kreativer Arbeitsprozess verlaufen sollte… 🙂

Es macht echt Spass auszuprobieren wie sich diese Techniken kombinieren lassen.

Was funktioniert besser, abstrakt oder figurativ? Wie reagiert die Oberfläche auf Farbe und wie reagiert sie auf Garn?

Drucken, Stricken und Nähen

Das Projekt läuft jetzt seit Juli und ich bin derzeit sehr damit beschäftigt, alle möglichen Druck- und Sticktechniken auszuprobieren. 

Mit der Druckqualität bin ich sehr zufrieden. Außerdem schaue ich mir an, in welche Form ich das definitive Bild gießen werde, damit im Endergebnis von jedem Teilnehmer etwas zurückzusehen ist.

Das mache ich meistens am Computer. Sobald diese Form feststeht, werde ich weiter sticken und mit der Nähmaschine arbeiten.

Experimente mit Stoffdruck

Ich habe schon ein Paar Experimente mit Stoffdruck durchgeführt und bin ganz begeistert von der Druckqualität!

Ich habe im Moment ganz viele Ideeen und probiere einfach alles aus, damit ich sehen kann was am besten funktioniert.

Diese Projektfase ist sehr interessant, da ich jetzt noch nicht weiss wie das Enddergebnis aussehen wird. Es wird auf jeden Fall schön!

Vielen Dank für euer Beiträge!

Gestern war der Einsendeschluss fürs Einreichen von Fotos, Stoffe und Stickereien. Herzlichen Dank an alle die mir etwas zugeschickt haben, ich habe mich seht gefreut übder die schöne Farben, Formen und Motive!

Ich habe alles mal zusammengelegt und eine digitale Skizze gemacht. So wird das Endbild natürlich nicht ausehen, es ist einfach wie gesagt, eine Skizze 😉

Ich habe einige sehr schöne und interessante Bilder und Stickereien bekommen. Herzlichen Dank schon mal an alle enthousiaste Fotografen/innen und Spender/innen die so schnell dabei waren!

Eine vorläufige Gemeinsamkeit ist mir schon aufgefallen…die Farbe Rot 🙂

Das Projekt hat angefangen!

Ich habe schon einige Arbeitsmaterialen gesammelt, die Projektseite meiner Website ist fertig und meinen ‘Call for Action’ kann bald verschickt werden. Ich habe alles auf Deutsch, English und Niederländisch vorbereitet.

Bin gespant wer mitmacht und was ich eingereicht bekomme!

Call for partcipation

A contribution of interested people will be an essential part of the artwork and is very welcome. You can send me:

  • A photo of a subject from nature, for example a flower, a tree or an animal, etc. The image does not have to be technically high-quality, it can also be made with a smartphone. 
  • Or a nice piece of fabric that you still have lying around and no longer need. 
    (10 by 10 cm is sufficient, can be sent by post)
  • Or Embroidery thread or a SMALL homemade embroidery that you want to donate. 
    (max. 20 x20 cm, can also be sent by post. Please give me a sign before sending) 

Goal of the Project 

My primary goal for making this textile collage is to create and strengthen a sense of belonging between people who do not know each other. The cooperation of others in my work is also essential, because the input of different people in a joint end result creates enormous added value in the field of diversity and layering of the work. The good thoughts and positive intentions also give the artwork a special energetic charge.

  • The work can also be experienced personally by visiting my studio during the work period (by appointment).
  • The end result will also be shown on this website and will also be exhibited in my studio in december. 

Title

The title “Samenvezelen” is a combination of the words “samen” (together) and  “vezel” (fibre) and is a reference to the tradition of making wall hangings by family, friends and neighbors for newlyweds. During the making process, all kinds of positive thoughts and wishes for fertility and a long and happy life are being added and woven into the cloth. In this case, the positive thoughts and wishes go out to nature around us.
